House Hunters

Hi All!

I’ve had a lot of people ask about selling our home and if we have found a new one so here is the update!

SOOO happy to say that we have sold our house in Liberty and closed on it last week!! Although it seemed like such a long process we were really only on the market just over 60 days when we accepted an offer. I was glad to have house showings over with. Trying to get your baby out of the house for showing constantly was not fun! Our closing date got pushed back as we had to paint our house and the rain caused a delay with painting. But we made it through and it is a done deal! I’d say the biggest thing I learned going through the selling process is TAKE CARE OF YOUR HOME! Even when we were out looking for houses you can really tell who takes care of their home and who doesn’t. When things go wrong, get them taken care of, and make sure you are getting your stuff serviced and well maintained! And also (referring to my last post) get rid of crap you don’t need!

I’m also happy to say we are new homeowners! (Or will be soon) We have signed the paperwork and have contract pending on a new home in Platte City. A lot of people ask us why we chose Platte City and we have a number of reasons. The biggest reason being FAMILY. My parents are 10 mins away, Jake’s mom is 15-20 mins away and I have a sister and a cousin who will be just a couple miles away! I’d say that is reason enough! Platte County also has a good school district and thinking of the future, the new elementary school is just a few miles away and Em would also be attending school with her cousin Scarlett! I must also mention that my best friend growing up will also be 10 mins away! The YMCA was a really big draw for us as well, it is really nice and I can take Emersyn swimming year round. Platte City is new to us but yet familiar and it has a lot of things and growing but yet still more of that small town feel. My husband and I grew up in Camden Point and Dearborn and went to North Platte which was pretty small. We knew we wanted a little bigger than our hometowns but not huge. His big plus is that his drive to work is much improved and he doesn’t have to drive through the Grandview Triangle anymore which is a very big reason we moved from Liberty.

I’m VERY excited about our new home!! It’s in a new community that has lots of green space and trees and you have to drive by a field with horses to get there which I love. We have a hill with trees behind our house and there will never be anyone behind us. I was told there is an old historic cemetery up there and it will never be moved. Anyone who knows me well knows I totally think I could have lived in peace without EVER knowing that! My family thinks I’m crazy for even thinking anything of it, but if any funny business happens I will be moving out! EEK! No seriously, it will be great. The home is still being worked on, as of now it still has no floors or carpet or sod. It is currently part of the Parade of Homes Tour although not complete. It will be completed by the end of October and we will be moving in November.  My goal was to be in a home by the holidays so the timing is perfect. The house searching was a lot different than I expected, a lot harder. I think by the time we got our house on the market and sold the number of homes in Platte City diminished drastically. We kept our options quite open and looked in a lot of different areas and a lot of different floorplans. The process was fun at first then it became long, frustrating and stressful. We came to realize there is no perfect home and that somewhere along the line you will make some sort of comprise. We thought heavily about building but ultimately decided waiting for 6-8 months for one to be built with a baby was not our ideal situation. I am anxious to get into our home and for Emersyn to have her room back and for us to be a family in our new home!

November can’t come fast enough! Until then, you can find me on Pinterest…..and watching HGTV…..

xoxo,

Lesley
