No Bake Lactation Bites For the Nursing Mom

lactation treats for the nursing mom

These no bake treats have been around for a long time and there are multiple versions of them with different ingredients but this one has been my “go to” during my pregnancy. What makes these good for breastfeeding is the flax seed and Brewer’s yeast believed to help a mother increase her breast milk supply.  You can leave out the Brewer’s Yeast if you are not breastfeeding.

The following post contains affiliate links so that you may find products easily, at no extra cost to you if you purchase.

I have a bit of a sweet tooth sometimes so having these little guys around has saved me from reaching for a cookie or something else unhealthy. These are made with honey, peanut butter and chocolate chips so they aren’t 100% healthy especially if you eat a lot of them during one setting, BUT if eaten in moderation they are a much healthier alternative! I would grab 1 or 2 at a time and that was enough to satisfy my sweet craving.

These are super easy to make with no baking involved. I never use a full cup of coconut personally & I like to grind down the flax seed. I use natural peanut butter ALWAYS because it’s better for you. Add or leave out whatever ingredients you want! This recipe made about 22 bites for me and I froze most of them for when baby gets here. You can refrigerate for up to a week. Let me know if you try them and like them or if you tried adding your own ingredients that you’d love to share.

Enjoy!

Update:  I still love & continue to make these as a yummy snack without the brewer’s yeast since I am no longer breastfeeding. To see how I lost over 65lbs post baby, read here.

Here is the recipe that I snagged from Pinterest of course:

“Booby Bites”
1 cup of old-fashioned oatmeal (I use Quaker Oats)  Read for tips on choosing oats
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup ground flaxseed
1 cup shredded coconut (I use unsweetened)
1/3 cup of honey
1/2 tablespoon Brewer’s Yeast *Check out the NOW brand or  Solgar brand online on Amazon.
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

  1. Combine the dry ingredients first:  oatmeal, coconut, chocolate chips, Brewer’s Yeast, & flax seed .
  2.  Add the peanut butter, honey, and vanilla and turn your mixer on low (or stir together). *If you DO use a mixer be prepared that everything get stuck in your beaters!
  3.  Refrigerate mixture for at least one hour.
  4.  Remove from the refrigerator and roll the mixture into small balls.
