It’s been a minute since I’ve done a pregnancy update! I’m going to try to do them more often & include some pregnancy workouts for you Mamas! I was hoping to have done more but I’m like a kid & get distracted so easily that I often bounce from project to project. What can I say I have a lot of interests & get bored easily, anyone else relate?
Weeks Pregnant: 26
Trimester: 2nd
Due Date: Aug 24th or 27th?? I can’t remember..pregnancy brain?
Gender: Boy
Weight Gain: approx 20 lbs
Food Aversions: none
Food Cravings: sweets! The the bakery section at the grocery store is a real weakness for me! I’m salivating over all the pastries & went thru a little sugar cookie phase!
Nutrition: I’m not following anything in particular, just keeping it balanced. Our fridge was broken for over a week & we got in the habit of eating out there for a bit but we are back to normal now! I have a weakness for fast food burger & fries! So I try to limit this to once a week. I incorporate healthy whole grains, fats & protein & I tend to eat apples & oranges often! I still have protein shakes here & there & Emmy really likes the ones I add fruit & greens to. Allowing myself to enjoy plenty of treats & outings with family for ice cream!
Exercise: I’m lifting weights about 3 times a week.(sometimes more, sometimes less) I usually like to do an upper, a lower, and a full body workout with circuits. I usually mix in my cardio during those circuits with things like jump rope, stair master, jump squats etc. I told myself I’m going to work on more core & stretching at home these coming weeks. Also I totally count chasing down Emmy at gymnastics class as a workout ha! Or chasing her around the yard… she doesn’t let me sit much! We also like to take nightly walks as a family. I’m still feeling great during my workouts.
I’ve posted a full body workout for you below that you can do either at home or at the gym! If you don’t have dumbbells at home & want to challenge yourself with more than just body weight, pick up a pair of soup cans, water bottles or jugs filled with water or anything you can find to hold for added resistance! Utilize your stairs, chair, couch, coffee table…get creative Mama! I challenge you to move for at least 30 minutes a day! If you are unsure of what you can & cannot do in regards to fitness & pregnancy, don’t worry I’ve put together all the info to answer your questions for you HERE!
Aches & Pains: tailbone pain! Who knew that was a pregnancy thing?! I sure didn’t but I’ve got it! It feels like my tailbone is bruised so sitting in hard chairs is really uncomfortable. I’ve been sitting on heating pad at night before bed & I just bought a special pillow that is fantastic! With Emmy, I experienced awful posterior pelvic girdle pain which is one of my most popular posts on my blog. After doing some reading I think I’m experiencing a bit of symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD) which is a form of pelvic girdle pain. With Emmy the pain was more like a stabbing pain my butt but this time it’s a bit different whereas the discomfort is in the general pelvis/groin area making activities such as parting the legs, going up & down stairs, moving around in bed difficult at times. It comes & goes. Luckily I know from my prior experience with PPGP what to avoid & things I can do to help.
Other Pregnancy Stuff: acid reflux! Zantac helps & I can’t eat a large quantity of food or eat late at night. Otherwise I’m sitting up in bed half the night! My belly is starting to get a bit itchy but no stretch marks YET (crossing fingers) I’m using THIS religiously.
Maternity Clothes: I’m not full on wearing all maternity clothes but I have started to wear some. I love these jean shorts from Target & this turquoise dress. (pictured below) I love this cute little swim skirt that covers all the right places but is still cute & not too “mom” if ya know what I mean. I bought some really comfy workout pants from Kohls.(wearing in top pic with the belly band rolled down) Walmart has some really cheap tank tops perfect for working out & shorts that I just buy a bigger size! I’m also loving this cute pineapple print tank!
I’ve had a lot of fun bumpin’ around town with my sister-in-law who is due just a month after me! It’s been so fun to have someone else to share experiences with!
Is baby moving? oh yes, he’s quite active!
Does baby have a name? We aren’t 100% sure yet, but getting there!
Spring is perfect time for garage sales & I’ve been taking advantage! I’ve had to start over completely with boy clothes so I’ve scored quite a few items to get us started! I’ve gotten a head start on his nursery which has been really fun so far. I want to have it all done early so I can sit back & enjoy my last few months of pregnancy instead of trying to get his nursery & things together last minute. You can watch some live video on my Facebook page of me painting a tree & animals in the nursery which was such a fun project! I’m currently working on redoing an old dresser of Jake’s to use as the baby’s dresser/changing station. I can’t wait to dedicate an entire post to his nursery!
Until next time Mamas!
