Hello hello!
Gosh it’s been a little while since I’ve written a blog post. I figured this is the perfect time to get back to it to spread the great news that we are expecting baby #2 late August! AND it’s a boy! Big news all around! And yes, that’s how long I’ve been keeping the secret!
So if I’ve been a little quiet that’s the main reason. I got so sick the month of December with all that icky cold stuff and lost my voice over Christmas. Then my first trimester hit me hard with the tiredness & just complete exhaustion. It was nap central for me! When Emmy took a nap, so did I. To make matters worse I wasn’t sleeping well at night at all, so I was SO tired during the day. This has been the worse part of my pregnancy so far. There was a time period I felt nauseous mostly around dinner time but I really havent been sick at all. But this last week or 2 I’ve started getting energy back and sleeping at night again, yeah! (Just in time to not sleep at night when baby comes right?!)
In the mix of things I’ve been planning Emersyn’s 2nd birthday party which we had last Sunday with all our immediate family. We knew we wanted to wait at least the standard 12 weeks before telling anyone and with Emmy’s party coming up with our closest family members we thought it would be the perfect time. So we waited a few more weeks and we just revealed the great news so now I’m sharing with you all!
We are SO thrilled to be adding to the family and so relieved to be past that first trimester. If you’ve ever had problems with past pregnancies before, you know how trying and nerve wracking those first few months are. Anxiety took over our excitement until I was able to see that initial heart beat on the monitor and to keep seeing progress through the coming weeks. So although it was a hard secret to keep for over 3 months, it is even harder to tell someone there is no news anymore. It is everyone’s personal choice when to reveal their pregnancy and it should always be respected.
So for those of you who will ask, I’m at 16 weeks! I’ve started to just show a bit these last couple weeks and I’ve gained about 5-6 lbs which is right on the mark. I gained 59 lbs with Emersyn which was WAY more than I ever thought I would so I’m trying to make it a point to be more mindful of my nutrition & get my workouts in. (And stay away from McDonalds!!) I did get back in shape after having her and you can read all about my journey to getting my post baby body back. It wasn’t easy but it was worth it! I’m so excited to be able to share with you all finally and start posting topics on pregnancy and health. It seems that my most popular blog posts are pregnancy related, such as these lactation snacks and all about my pelvic girdle pain. Please comment with any topics that you might find helpful and I’d love to give my input!
Now about this BOY stuff, eek! When we got the results via blood test just 3 days before Emmy’s party my husband asked me how I felt…. I said I imagine I feel like you did when you found out Emmy was a girl. He has all brothers, I have all sisters…. We both always wanted 1 of each so we really lucked out and I think Jake is happy he won’t be outnumbered anymore! He also said “Hey, we only have to pay for 1 wedding now!” haha A small (ok maybe big) piece of me wanted Emmy to have a sister. I have an older sister and I know how special that bond is. Plus we have so much girl stuff!! Part of me wanted to relive seeing Emmy’s sweet little outfits again on a little sister. But at the same time I wanted to experience having a boy also. And I keep hearing over and over that boys LOVE their mamas so I’m all about that! Emmy is super sweet but she’s not the snuggling type at least not yet. I’m getting more and more excited at the thought of a boy and am so thrilled to be having the best of both worlds. I feel really lucky right now. My only hope is that this pregnancy continues to be healthy.
Be on the lookout for Emersyn’s birthday party post with some fun tutorials in the coming weeks!
Thanks for all the congrats & love & support we’ve received thus far. We are beyond excited!
